Fibonacci spiral porcelain pendant-sacred geometry

Hand carved sacred geometry porcelain pendant representing the Fibonacci spiral.

Fibonacci spiral (Nautilus Shell)

These  pendants have been hand carved in translucent porcelain and painted with gold by Belen Berganza.

The humble nautilus shell is actually remarkable in its mathematical proportions. It is the physical representation of the number PHI, also known as the Golden Mean. PHI, which equals 1.6180339… is a unique number in that it has no arithmetic solution and goes on to infinity without repeating itself. This proportion created by PHI is found in the human skeleton, sunflowers, and of course the nautilus shell. Famous artists such as Kandinsky and Leonardo Da Vinci used the Golden Mean in their artistic creations. Research has now shown that people prefer to look at visual images, physical objects or representations that have the Golden Mean proportions. The Nautilus shell, with its beauty and mathematical perfection, is thought to allow the wearer to focus in on the harmony and beauty found in the natural world.

The most famous and beautiful examples of the occurrence of the Fibonacci sequence in nature are found in a variety of trees and flowers, generally associated with some kind of spiral structure. For instance, leaves on the stem of a flower or a branch of a tree often grow in a helical pattern, spiraling around the branch as new leaves form further out

Sacred Geometry

Sacred Geometry is the basic fundamental building block of our Universe, based on mathematics and form. From the farthest reaches of the cosmos to the atomic structure of a single cell within the body, the same laws of form and mathematics apply. These displays of mathematical and geometric constants are confirmation that certain proportions are woven into the very fabric of nature. Recognising the significance of this simple fact offers us the means to understand how and why such matters were considered sacred. They and everything around us, are the product of the delicate balance between chaos and order.
